Middlesbrough-based Academy of Joint Integrity has delivered a specialist training programme to more than 80 operatives from Chemoxy International Ltd.

The operatives from Chemoxy’s two sites on Teesside took part in the certified flange integrity and gasket technology training as part of the company’s commitment to safety through its position as a top tier COMAH site.  This is the second training project Chemoxy has engaged the Academy to deliver.

Delivered on-site at Chemoxy’s facilities, the day-long training programmes, which are accredited by the Energy Institute, are designed to increase competencies to underpin ‘Loss of Containment’ strategy.

Utilising the Academy’s mobile Flange Assembly Demonstration Unit (FADU), which displays the elastic interaction of the components within the Flanged connection, Chemoxy’s staff were able to undertake practical assessments to demonstrate competencies.

In addition to delivering the tailored courses, the Academy also support the sites with procedures to meet best practice.

The Academy, which is part of global sealing solutions specialist Flexitallic and has its Teesside training centre at the Riverside Industrial Park, is highly-experienced in delivering training and assessment for sites that have to adhere to the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH) Regulations.

Providing accredited, bespoke practical training to graduates, engineers and technicians, the Academy covers all areas of Flange Assembly/Sealing Technology and Joint integrity, underpinning Loss of Containment Initiatives.

On-site Integrity audits also provide clients with ageing assets invaluable technical evaluation of how to address corroded flanges and pipework from a gasket/flange assembly perspective.

It has seen an increase in demand for its accredited training programmes from companies operating in hazardous industries, particularly since changes to the COMAH regulations came into effect in 2015.
